View Full Version : after market rear LCA fittings/bushings

In some of the threads and build threads I see that several of us have aftermarket rear LCA fittings/bushings (called "anti-dive fittings" in the aftermarket). I am interested in the Perrin and Whiteline products. I seem to recall that some were trying to work through not only whether the bushing/housing assemblies were swapped, side for side, as with the stock ones, but also builders were trying to work through whether or not they were mounted differently than stock - i.e., above rather than below the mounting points (or vice versa). Has this been sorted out by anyone? (Building an R).

Thanks,

Bill

Edit: My concern regarding the above is that, to have either anti-dive or more caster (both of which they are said to do), the the bushing housing is asymmetrically displaced from the stock, more neutral position. Does this produce problems when switching the bushing/housing around as mentioned above?

Anyone? Does my question as stated make sense?

Fate66 used them on his to run the R height without using spacers, it looked like a pretty good fit, but I don't think it was quite the inch needed. cplavin made some nice spacers.

Noone has a driveable R yet as far as I know besides FFR and they've never shared what they were running up front.

I was told that the blue and white car is running a bumpsteer kit.
This is a very old picture but it shows a stack of washers or spacer in that car.

With the S model we were told that the side of the bushing with the "wiggle" in it had to be down. Is it up on the R to reduce the amount of spacer required to place the bushings on top of the mount to lower the car? The hole is off center...

The manual they were using must have shown it both ways.
I trust the CAD drawings in the manual over the pictures.

I suspect that Bob is right, since the CAD drawings would presumably derive from the SolidWorks software, in which the correct geometry of the suspension had been worked out or at least reflected.

The question raised here is actually more complicated than meets the eye. The offset of the rear LCA housing determines alignment with the front LCA mounting point, and I infer that it seems to impact anti-dive characteristics. It wouldn't determine caster as it would in the WRX, since we have the dual-adjustable upper control arms in the 818.
But I would think that the specific offset of the bushing (as in the aftermarket units) and the mounting of either these or the stock ones are going to be an important factor in performance. I'll be mounting the stock ones with poly bushings , but asking Jim at FFR about this would be a good next step.

reguarding the wiggle side of the bushing....if you just swap them the wiggle side stays down. thats what i did, they seem to fit up ok although in the picture they are not tight.
