View Full Version : is it possible to delete the 02 sensors?

i have a 2002 2.5 n/a motor out of an impreza what would i hjave to do to eleminate the 02 sensors?
I just want to run dual exhaust out the back

If you are running the stock ecm you will need the oxygen sensors. It is possible you could get away without the rear sensors but the check engine light would be on. The front sensors help control fuel metering. the rear monitor the cat efficiency.

Hmm what is used for open loop? Or does it only function in closed loop?

For any stand alone ECU that runs Open Loop, you can delete the O2, though it's still recommended to use it so that you can run in Closed Loop mode in certain situations. But you can also run in Open Loop all the time if you want.

If you use the car for track only, I don't think the O2 will be of any good for you.
