So I disconnected the steering rack, unplugged any wires that have plugs, unbolted the steering column from the donor dash but there is one very large electrical group of wires left. There doesn’t seem to be any plug to un do this big group of wires. Do I need to disassemble the steering wheel electricals???? How do I disconnect that large group of wires in the black tape???

HELP

Palomino- what year? I do not know of the connectivity for all years, but it's hard to believe that all of them do not just unplug, since otherwise the steering wheel assembly is not serviceable (which it is).

It initially appeared as though the column on my 2006 was permanently connected, just as you describe. I had to (with seats removed from donor) lie on my back with my head in the footwell to access/unplug the connectors. That's for my 61 year-old self: your experience may differ! Take a set of needle-nosed pliers, a small blade screwdriver and a headlamp with you when you dive in!

Bill

Edit: I assume you mean inside the car at the column itself.

Did you disconnect the wires in the column it's self? Did you remove the plastic behind the steering wheel?

JF you remove the cover to the column you'll see four or so connectors.
