I made these a while back, but I thought those taking an Impreza apart might find it interesting as an alternative to selling the back seat. Garage couch! I built a frame from wood, added a piano hinge under the seat for storage, and wrapped some vinyl around the front to clean it up. If you can weld, I'm sure you could make a better frame as

Thats really cool. I still have my back seats and a wheel and tire to make into a table.

I love the idea, but can't justify having a garage space designated to "lounging." Maybe if i had a few hundred more sq/ft. Nice job though!

It's a great idea, was wondering if it could be done. Any pictures of the frame?

Nothing saved on my phone but I'll see of I can pull a cushion off tonight when I get home to snap a picture. It's not pretty, but it is functional.

No room in my garage for a couch! I had to build my own lift/rack to store my trike over my 69 Sonett...

I was going to build one and put it in the basement instead of the garage.

Tried to snap a photo of the framework but forgot that I screwed the back on, so not so helpful. Bottom is basically just a box made of 2x4's with a plywood lid and front. The back is just the framework lined up with where the attachment points would have been in the car.
Here is a picture of the lid. The little bump on the middle is to match the bump in the support for the center seat.

As far as the space issue, I agree, tough to find it. This is basically a wide hallway between my garage and basement. Nice thing about the couches is that they are very small, but still comfortable for 2 people (and with a functional center armrest!)

I've got room in the summertime, but in the winter my 30" snow blower hogs all the lounge space.

That is absolutely awesome!, I may have to do make some seats with my spare seats!

I was going to do the same thing, but like everyone else, space is at a premium. The back seats are pretty much un-sellable so this is as good a thing as any to do with them - for all the friends who want to come and ogle your build and drink beer and occasionally help out. I was going to stick it on a couple of HF moving dollies... maybe it would slot under a table or something - or else in the man room in the basement

For those that aren't using their front seats... They could be used for a gaming system, add a ps3, a monitor steering wheel attachment and Gran turismo 5 something to do while waiting for parts.
