Mounting post onto shifter assembly

The manual says to cut off the post, drill out with a 7/32 drill bit and then install with the provided locknut.

Does anyone know what locknut they are referring to? I also saw mention of a tap.

What did everyone else do?

You should have a small baggie of 1/4-28 threaded nylok nuts.

I think I was shorted them. No big deal, I'll pick up a handful on the way home today.
