Anyone familiar with 2006 WRX keys and immobilizer unit?

Just received a very nice low mileage 2006 WRX, but the car arrived with only one ignition key.

Our local Subaru parts guy said that he could get another key from the factory with the VIN number. Great....

Then he said that the car and both keys needed to be brought together for programming... a problem unless I want to flat-bed the unregistered donor to the dealership.

Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket key programming companies that will go to you?

No experience.

Do you by chance have a key with the ID tags on them? If so, they can make you a new key with zero issues. If you don't have that, they need to choose a new unique ID for your immobilizer and program the keys for the same ID which is why they need both keys and the car.
