Did we ever determine where the shifter is sourced from? I found the shifter from the EVO X looks very very similar, but not quite the same.

Also found this aftermarket replacement version. Not as cool as Wayne's shifter he's selling, but gives me more ideas to try and make my own. :D

Hmm..could be. Hard to find good images of it, though all the ones I find look different. Here's TWM's boxster shifter:

Mostly I find these, which looks like an interesting way to get around needing a large plastic bushing to allow for forward/back and side/side motion simultaneously.

This shifter from 96 celica is close.
Seem somebody is a Toyota fan. Headlights, windshield, and maybe shifter.

That was my impression too.......... Is there something wrong with the Toyota shifter that has caused so many folks to seek other alternatives, I wonder?

I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
I'm just looking for an excuse to make something interesting. Whenever I start making something I usually start my seeing how someone else has done it, take what I like, change what I don't (or sometimes what they said they didn't like) and then make a design.
I like the shifter Wayne has for sale, but I'm trying to stay on a budget. Most of my mods either came from my donor or were made by me. I have $17k in the build so far. Adding all the parts I think are cool would results in a $30k build for me.

Figured out where it comes from. It's the TRD Quick Shift lever available for a variety of makes and models. Looks like the one for the corolla XRS specifically and the Scion TC.

Not a lunch time break, it'll take longer than that. I did get the important features of the FFR shifter modeled up though so I can use all the reference points to start making my own. I'll put my FFR shifter back together, get the car running with that and work on this as a side project in the mean time.

Here's a budget option, for $170 you can ditch the jockey shift and get one 2.5" shorter.
They also offer better bushings.. a good option for those that want something a little better, but don't want to drop the $600 for a VCP
