Subie guys, where are the lift points for the EJ25 engine? It's out of the car, in an AJW carte, so where should I attach chains? And, will this engine fit on a normal engine stand that bolts to the bell housing? The factory service manual shows a 4-legged contraption that holds the engine on the bottom. Thanks.

I use a chain and put bolts with large washers into the intake manifold. Two engines out no problems. Use the bellhousing bolts to mount engine to the engine stand. I have one that's rather old and heavy duty and one I bought from harbor junk and there basically the same. Wheels fall off the harbor junk one but I drilled a hole and a washer and cotter pin fixed that problem.

For the EJ205 the lift points are a bracket near the turbo, and the A/C bracket. I would think they should be similar if not the same. Normal engine stand is fine, I purchased of M10X1.25 100mm long bolts w/ a bunch of 3/8" washers for the stand mounts. There bell housing bolts have two different lengths, so keep that in mind when you're selecting the holes you bolt into.

I used a harbor freight stand.
For lifting, there are a few locatinos depending on what you have installed.
Passenger side:
No trans: put a caribeaner through the trans access plug (shown in pic)
Trans: (ie: motor is in car, you can't get around the block) use the TMIC bracket where the little hole is near where it bolts to the motor.
Driver side:
AC bracket: you can hook a caribeaner through the top of this
No AC: Put a bolt into one of the mounting locations for the AC bracket (it's a large bolt, 10mm?)
Do not lift by the intake manifold. I've heard of them breaking if it hangs up at all.

Nope. That was from when I first moved into the house 4 years ago. It's since been painted, floor was ground down and coated, tool boxes added, and a lot of junk thrown in there somewhere. There's also various flags and things on the wal now too. Click the link in my signature to see a video in my garage. Here's a pic of when it was first done (and completely empty). The car in the pic was my DD that became my donor.

4 years, thank god it's completed by now. lolll
I see the video, a lot better now! :)
You can see mine here http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et-vehicules-autos-et-camions-1993-VW-Corrado-VR6-Turbo-425-450bhp-375-400whp-UN-BIJOU-W0QQAdIdZ497735435
I reckon my bikes are not in the garage and it was pretty empty at that time, with minimal stuff on the wall, but the paint and floor where completed.

Heh, I have the same H/F stand and hoist. Got both w/ the leveler for $175, HF Coupons FTW! I found the leveler to be really helpful in getting things aligned in/out, etc.
Hey Frank that's a really nice Corrado. Have you considered posting it up on VW Vortex? Probably generate interest there. http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisplay.php?827-Corrado-Cars

Tnx JAubin! Wanna buy it? llooollll Teasing. :)
Yeah I have that link on my list it was my plan to post it there this week! :)
I just posted it up for sale this Monday 24th! Hard to put on sale a car you've been working on for 20 years and maintained like a show car (no rain, etc.). But hey, I'm moving on, I want a new project and the 818 is the one!!!! :) There's nothing more I want to do on the Corrado, it's reliable enough to be a DD, but requires knowledge to know what you're doing and to keep the setup right.

Thanks guys. My donor showed up today from AJW and I had the exact same question. Tomorrow I get to spend organizing the contents into boxes and getting ready for the rest of the kit to show up.
