Ernie's project

This is a photo journal of some of the steps I went through to get where I am. It started out as a donor build, but with the 50/50 sale I have to admit I spent more on some extras that really made for a nice build. Extras include electric wipers, heater, RF wiring, serious Willwood brake package, both chrome roll bars, FF5 radiator, steering rack, chrome pipes, ceramic coated header, and the body pre-cut. This is a carbureted 5.0, so there is MSD ignition, Stealth manifold, and possibly the last Barry Grant 625 with a manual choke.

  2. AFR 1399 081314 . WOW! almost too nice to hide under the hood!
  3. hood hinge

  8. Go Kart- the coolest in the neighborhood! This is about a year and 2 weeks from the day I received the kit.

  10. Nothing like room to work in a very small garage.
  11. Body buck was waiting.
  12. My kit arrives, first stop from FF5!
  13. After reinforcing the trusses in my ceiling, I was able to hoist the body up over the car- out of my way for now.
  14. Rear end got blasted, one set of brackets removed. Found a broken tooth on the ring gear, changed up to 3.55:1 ratio, 5 lug spindles. The strange...
  15. Had to go through the engine, new timing chain, main bearings, oil pump and ARP drive shaft.
  16. Made a small sand blasting booth in my garage and did the block, tranny and rear end.
  17. After getting the rusted fuel line together, the engine ran and tranny tested good. Started tear down.
  18. Bought Mustang for $400!
