This is another design for the 818 contest: the X12 "Firebug". The design doesn't have doors, but it does include a hardtop with gull-wing windows. The main feature of the X12 is the driver interface, which is comprised of two lightweight touchscreens on the steering wheel and a heads-up display (HUD) projected on the windshield. These replace the normal gauges and regular controls, reducing weight and putting all the controls and information right in front of the driver. The interface includes such things as:
-Finger print scanner for driver authentication
-Primary steering wheel touchscreen for GPS, main controls, etc.
-Secondary steering upper wheel hub touchscreen for quick access to important controls (performance mode, boost levels, etc.)
-Customizable steering wheel buttons
-Start button on steering wheel
-On-window HUD, including:
--Boost meter
--Tachometer
---Includes markers for what the RPM would be in different gears
--Speedometer
---Includes marker for what the current road's speed limit is (from GPS)
--Customizable radial meters (for air/fuel ratio, exhaust gas temps, oil temp, water temp, battery charge, clock, etc.)
--Turn signals
--Upshift warning lights
---Red for performance upshift warnings
---Green for economy upshift warnings
