    Wiring harness and other questions.

I'm planning on ordering a FFR roadster basic kit this week and had a couple of questions I'd like to get answered first.

1.) My donor car is a 2001 Mustang GT. I've read on the forums that it's easier to buy the pre-made chassis wiring harness Sku: 14503. The description states "The harness also has dedicated power wires if you plan on running Fuel Injected using our available fuel Injection harness." The only harness I can find is the Ford Style EFI harness Sku: 14227 however it states it's for 1989-1993 5.0L Mustang donor.
    Questions:
A.) With my donor do I need an EFI harness or is it easy to plug in the stock 4.6L EFI harness?

B.) How does it work with the ford security system?

2.) I live in Maryland. What are the steps to get this kit registered and on the road?

3.) Will I need to get it thru Maryland emissions? If so any tips on how to make sure it passes? Will I need the catalytic converters?

4.) Chip Programmer. I'm guessing that since the FFR is different then the Mustang tweaking the chip would help. If so any recommendations?

I'm fairly mechanically inclined and have built several hotrods in the past. Never built a kit car before but I am going to the FFR build school in May which my answer some of these questions. However any help and/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Jay

Based on Bill3422s experience w/ MAssFlow efi, you will need the mustang efi harness and then integrate it w/ the car harness yourself. There were a few questions like the radiator fan which could be wired w/ either harness. MassFlow recommended, in those cases, to use the MassFlow harness and not the car harness so i think that would be what you would do also. To get more detailed info, I would look on this and the other forum for sub-forums dedicated to mod-motor builds.

    Hi Jayo,

In case you haven't figured it out, the body harness and the EFI harness are basically independant of one another. If you go the route of an EFI system, you only have a few wires that interconnect the systems. I used the Summit EFI harness for my 5.0 but I don't know if they have one for a mod motor application. But the basic concept should still hold. Also, I kept the temp sensor for the fan system and another for the computer as the trigger temps were slightly different (one of the integrating factors of the EFI harness). Good luck, WEK.

Jay, a good guy to contact is Art at Wirediet.com because he REALLY knows the 4.6 wiring. Here's a link to a recent thread that may be useful:
    http://www.ffcars.com/forums/45-ford...-6-wiring.html

I used a 2000 Mustang GT donor and used the OE engine harness which I had "dieted" and the OE computer flashed. I used the ISquared (now ISIS) harnesses for the chassis and dash wiring, but things have improved in the last 3 years. Art is the best source, I think. BTW, you'll love the 4.6 engine.
