    Cool New York Newb!

    Howdy all,

Just signed up for a build class at MOTT. I am semi retiring early a a creative from advertising but when I was in my late teens and early 20s I had a fairly extensive background in muscle cars. 67 Chevy SS 396, 70 Chevy 350, 64 Vette 327, 63 VW Beetle 1800cc bus motor and helped on a 66 Chevy truck 307 sleeper. My hads have been offf wrenching since I was 25... just mild repair stuff.

That said. No way at 62 am I doing any full restores on the classics I had. My $hit is too old to take it on. I am betting the school will get my gears going and give me the confidence to HOPEFULLY order a MK5 with a 302 by next year.

Any input would be great on the class or any other thoughts. Appreciate anyone reading this.

    Huskaroo,
    Ken

The MOTTS class is great whether you’re seasoned or a newbie. I suggest taking copious notes and lots of photos. Ask questions, and make sure you turn wrenches when the opportunity arises. The instructors also give lots of tips and suggestions - they’re worth taking the class alone. And have fun!

Welcome, I attended the build school last August before I ordered and started my build.
I think it is well worth the time and gives you a good overview of the project and lots of tips.
definitely take notes and lots of pictures, I wish I had taken more sometimes.
Instructors are great and even drove their personal cars in for us to look at one day.
I'm building a MK5 with a 347 so almost the same as you are planning.

Lots of great builders and build threads here to learn from too.
