Just noticed that there is not enough room for the shifter ring and emergency brake ring for my Mk5. Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm curious what the fix is, if any. Ring.jpg
Thanks

You can flip the shifter tower 180 degrees moving it to the more forward rear position. If you do that you may want a different lever.
Jeff
I just flipped mine to the forward position and it still overlaps some. I understand some engines are shorter than others, and that makes some difference. But my SBF and TKX looks like it will not totally clear. Some have gone to the full forward position (for some reason called the midskhift position), but I think that is more involved and may take some parts.
Fun, fun. Ralph

Just cut one of the trim rings to fit against the other

Just a thought here, put a spacer in the shift handle bolts to move the shift handle over to the left and are you able to maybe add a spacer to the park break to move it over to the right. Then arrange the trim rings to the extreme position.

That's what I did on my MkIV ... to the shift lever anyway
You could also "build your own" trim ringshttps://thefactoryfiveforum.com/atta...3&d=1775408912
Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your ideas and suggestions. I took Jeff's advice and moved the shifter forward. Now I need to find a shifter lever with less forward tilt.
Craig C - That trim ring looks great! Unfortunately, I don't think I have the tools, or talent, to manufacture something like that.
I didn't care for the FFR shift lever and I found Hurst makes various lengths.hurst.png
