Spoiler mounting examples, seeking advice

I am thinking about cutting a slot the size and shape of the spoiler in the coupe body and sliding the spoiler up from underneath thru the hole to mount the spoiler to the body. I would leave as much of the flange on the spoiler as possible and use the flange as a surface to glue the spoiler to the body from underneath. On the outside I would use HSRF to create a fillet from the body to the spoiler and finish the final details with the rest of the body work.

From reading all the posts I could find on the topic it sounds like others have done something similar, but I cant find many details or pictures. Can anyone point me to a post with more details? Or if you did this do you have any pictures or advice you could share?

No pictures of it but the guy that did my body work mounted mine from underneath by cutting a slot. He trimed the flange and glassed it in. When I saw it he had it installed and it looks like it was part of the body with no seams.

User "TTimmy" posted some coupe bodywork videos and he took a different approach to the spoiler. We haven't touched any of the bodywork yet so I can't comment on either method, it's just a another option.

I’ve completely the bodywork and I’m getting ready for paint. I am thrilled with the outcome so far. All of the lines and curves seem to flow well. I basically ground out the area into which the existing spoiler would sit, glued it in and did some glass and filler. I hope it stands the test of time!

I would be concerned that coming in from the bottom adds some complexity: it’s a large area to cut all the way through and get matched up. And I would worry that much of the spoiler would be buried - thus the lines might not flow well.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Spring housework has commenced so it might be a while before I get to it, but when I do Ill post some pictures of whatever way I get this spoiler mounted.
