Mk4 professionally built, 4k mi, Charlotte NC - SOLD

Hi All, it’s come time to sell my dream car after 10years. I always said if I was not driving it, I would let it go and she does not fit with life these days. Some key details are below and offering this to the FFR community before it goes to a wider audience once I am done with the finishing touches. Special thanks to Mark Dougherty (The Traveling Builder) who built the car back in ’14…such a reliable build and a great way to become a new owner. Happy to answer any questions here or PM and we can switch to phone calls.

Listing for $45k. Will negotiate some, but not much before it goes to auction.

Build Highlights: >$65k invested (pre-covid $$), professionally built by Mark Dougherty, Mk4 complete kit, non-donor/all new build: 3-Link, 8.8” with 3.31 gear, Willwood breaks, 17” Halibrands, Koni adj. coil overs, 302 Windsor from The Engine Factory with 350HP and MSD EFI, TKO600, Kool Mat insulation, Gas-N Sidepipes, Daytona Blue color with white vinyl stripes.

History: I purchased the car when I lived in CT in 2016 from its original owner, who hired Mark Dougherty to build it in ’14. When we moved to NC, I registered and titled in NC. I have all the paperwork from each registration along with all build receipts.

Condition: Paint quality and condition are excellent. Paint protection film on rear quarters that works fantastic. Body panel fit is very good. The carpeted interior is basic, but clean. Seat belts are starting to fade. Heater was removed, but switch is still on the dash. Everything in working order. Rear-main does leak, 5 drips after a drive, I tried to fix but just live with the carboard.

Last 2yr Maint.: coolant, break fluid, trans fluid, tires (Nitto NT05), oil/filter of course, battery on season 3.

Final Comments: currently replacing the broken passenger rear wheel knock-off and carpeting the hidden radio area now. Will come with some spare parts. Currently <4,200mi and I will drive some while listed.

Photos are after a recent wash. Hopefully my iphone12 can do it justice. I will add some driving videos when I can.

Thanks for your interest. Jim Frissora

    Hi Jim,
What year was the car originally titled. Reason I ask is to consider bringing to Canada it has to be 15 years old for a kit car.

Hello, the car was first registered in CT in 2014. For this type of vehicle and its registered age (1965) the state of Connecticut did not require a title, which was not uncommon when I looked into it. When I moved to North Carolina, a title was required and that was issued in 2021. Hope this helps.

    Car sold today.

Really appreciate this community’s advice along the way. Perhaps one day I find my way back into a Mk5 or a Daytona.
