I have a coyote in mine (just bought it so this might be build dependent). Benefits: no carb to worry about, pretty easy to get 500hp out of it
What is a wash: you either custom fab the exhaust or use the 427 4”. Mine has the cat chambers (no cat) which serves as an expansion chamber for the exhaust which helps the sound a bit. I have flow through muffler tips and you don’t need ear pro on drives (I wear it anyway)
One thing I don’t like: the exhaust isn’t that lopey sound you get with like a comp cam thumper. I also think the exhaust pipes are a little short, so I’m going to source slightly longer ones to get the opening closer to the rear tire purely for aesthetics.
The original car was a 380hp 289 which you can hit on pump gas stroking to a 331 or going with the taller 351, though I am sure there are trade offs the pros here could comment on.
