Question Hydratech brake booster and pedals

    Hi gents,

I知 collecting info for my upcoming Mk4 build and I知 really interested in using Hydratech痴 hydroboost solution. My question is if anyone knows if you can still use the Wilwood pedal setup or do you need to use a Mustang pedal setup? I知 planning to use a hydraulic clutch setup so I知 wondering if one option might negate the other.

    Thanks!

So, I spoke to Jim at Hydratech Brakes and he indicated that I do indeed need to run the Foxbody brake pedals to use his system. So, here's the follow-up question - is using a hydraulic clutch an option with the Fox pedals, or would I have to use the cable setup? I'm not a big fan of the cable setup (had an '86 GT back in the day) so that's an important data point

    Thanks!

I retrofitted a new Hydratech brake booster in my Mark 1 circa 2004 using a Fox Mustang pedal box. (If I remember correctly, the tech I spoke with was named Paul Clark.) I don't see how you could easily utilize a hydraulic clutch setup with the Mustang pedal box. I used a cable actuated clutch on my first build and it worked great. Just be sure to use a genuine Ford Performance cable, not one of the many knockoffs, including the one provided by Factory Five in their complete kit; they seem to be problematic from what I've read on the forum.

FYI, I'm using an SN95 (1995) Mustang pedal box in my current, retirement project build, also utilizing a Ford Performance clutch cable. For this build I'm going with vacuum assisted brakes. (I'm in the go-cart phase and I've put 5 miles on the chassis so far and the brakes feel great.)

Although I've only put a few miles on the chassis, the vacuum assisted brakes feel like they're easier to modulate than the hydroboost/Hydratech brakes.
Mark 1 GUMBALL sold September 2019 with 46.6K-miles.

Mark 4 GUMBALL2 retirement project commenced August 2024. Build thread: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/show...2-Build-Thread
