Machine shop in San Diego, CA

    Hello,

Long time listener, first time caller.... I am starting a MkIV build, but just rebuilding an engine first. Will order the kit soon. I am looking for recommendations for a good engine-rebuild / machine shop in the San Diego area. Specifically North County San Diego if possible. I am rebuilding a 302 from a 1968 Mustang. Was in okay shape, had a few oil leaks. No surprises upon disassembly. Not sure if I'll just ask for bearing surfaces and cylinders to be honed/machined or if I'll go the 347 route yet.

Thanks in advance and may I say I can't wait to get started! I have been part of these type of forums before and I am really impressed by the expertise and good nature of the members here.

PS. I searched for this thread already but didn't find anything.

I'm in San Marcos. I've not had the need to have an engine rebuilt ( yet ), but i've dealt with Hot Rods and Custom Stuff in Escondido, then JBA Speed Shop in Kearney Mesa. Both places seemed good to me.

Thanks Mark. I am also in San Marcos!

I have used JBA in the past as well with positive results. I'm leaning towards a shop called Mesa Machine in Escondido based on a recommendation from a friend and proximity. Just thought I'd ask around here first. Appreciate your feedback.
