Red face Dropped in the engine by myself!

Reporting it is totally doable for a rookie to drop the engine by themselves. My wife was there for moral support and taking pictures.

From reading the forms I elected to put the rear of the car on the highest jack stand setting. I then put jack stands under the front of the car at the lowest setting. There was no need to have a huge difference in height between the front and back. Just a few inches was enough.

I left the engine on the 1/2 ton setting on the hoist arm. Turns out it worked best for the longest reach. The hoist was right up to the radiator at completion.

Just went slow, took about 20 mins to put it in.
I had the transmission "A" support brace already installed.

After I was done I put the car back on the chassis dolly but I am finding it really heavy to push around the garage. Next up will be some wheel dollies.

Overall it was a good day and a great milestone. Definitely was much easier than I expected. Now I have to educate myself on pinion angles.

I had to pull mine out to replace the O-rings on my freeze plugs and ended up doing it by myself. With the right leveler it's very doable.

Congratulations. Felt kind of anti-climatic, right? A major milestone nonetheless.

Got mine in on Saturday with the help of my son. Don't like that the engine mount bolts are sitting on the bottom of the slots in the FFR mounts. Think I will make some spacers to lift it slightly otherwise seem good.

Great job and I agree. Although it creates a bunch of running side to side maybe some down on the floor and back up, doing it alone isn't that bad. Also you eliminate the possibility of Joe lowering his end vs John (who you asked) lowering his. If there is a next time try it w/ the A frame trans mount out. You just lift the tail of the trans up onto the 4 in cross tube. That way the tail has nothing to hit on the way in until the last few inches of moving rearward. I found I could slip the rear of the A frame on top of the frame tab, drop a bolt through, and then use it as a lever to raise the trans and install the front bolts. It took way less effort than I expected.

When I was adjusting the transmission to install the mount. One of the front mounts poped out of it's holder. I had not tightened them down yet.

Be sure to go back and check all the mounts when you are done. And don't forget the ground strap like me.
