15" Halibrand front centers hit dust cap

I just took the car out for a short ride and noticed a definite wobble in the front today. I immediately suspected the spinners and pulled them off. wobble gone. The centers do not fit over the dust cap. Should they be?

I'm using 1991 Lincoln Mark VII hubs for the 5 lug conversion.

I found the following thread from last year about this:

I think I'm having this problem. What should I do?

    Thanks,
    Mike

The Lincoln MkVII rotors are taller in the center than the SN95 mustang rotors. To run the spinners on the FFR wheels you will have to grind a little material off of the center of the rotor or off of the aluminum spinner. If you do not take material off of one of those surfaces the wheel will not be able to sit flush on the mounting suface and it will cause the wheel to wobble excessively. This will be hard on all the parts and not very fun to drive...

    thanks for the reply Brian.
So that I'm sure I understand you right:
if I just cut a groove off the center of the spinner cap to clear the dust cap, will that be enough, or will i need to trim some metal off the entire bottom of the center cap?

    thanks again

My solution.. I machined down the rotor and the spinner cap a little. I wanted to even it out and didn't want to take all the material from the cap or the rotor, so that's why I took a little off of both.

i took a wheel, the hubs, dust caps, and the spinner caps to my buddy Charles's tonight and he machined just a bit off the center of the spinner cap so that the dust cap will fit inside it. After doing that I was able to mount the wheel to the hub without the dust cap or spinner cap interfering. The wheels to hub is nice and tight now and the spinner cap has just a touch of play, until I put the spinner on it and it tightens right up.

    Thanks guys!
