Coyote Gen 3 Engine Install: Install Headers and Power Steering Kit Before Drop-in?
I'm a few months away from installing my Coyote Gen 3. Just wondering if people have had a tough time installing the long-tube Coyote headers once the engine is sitting on the mounts, or, if installing the headers while the engine is still hoisted (but only a few inches off the mounts) is a lot easier. I'm asking because I have bad arthritis in my right shoulder (my left shoulder is already 'new'), so I'd like to avoid awkward tightening if I can help it. Same question on the KRC power steering kit: would it be safe to install this before lowering the engine in, or is it easier to install the kit after the engine is in?
Thanks,

Not a waxer
PS can go on but not the headers.

I just installed my Gen 3 and installed the headers after the engine was sitting on the mounts. The passenger side was easy to install, but the drivers side, I had to be a contortionist. I too have arthritis in my hands. I got all but the top bolt on the third tube back. I ended up duck taping the bolt to a ratcheting box wrench, it was tight with the footbox panels installed, but I got it.

PS no problem as others have said. Also alternator is OK, although you didn't ask. Long tube headers, no. The RH side isn't bad. LH side has several that are rough. No soft-pedaling that. I found a slight advantage to installing the headers with the engine still on the lift and not all the way down onto the mounts. About an inch or two away as I recall. You have to lower it enough to get the headers under the chassis tube and bolted at the proper angle. BTW, you'll also want the steering shaft disconnected at the steering rack and swung out of the way. It just misses the LH head once installed. If you have master cylinder reservoirs attached at the front of the foot box watch those too. Depending on how mounted, may also interfere when dropping the engine in. And finally, I find it also helps to have the shifter off the top of the transmission.

I would also suggest ensuring the header flange holes align, prior to install. Also ended up making access hole and cover on driver side footbox, to tighten one header bolt. Just one senior solution.
