    Sound/Heat insulation under fuel tank?

Does anyone who got the sound/heat insulation kit for the '33 know if there is a piece for under the fuel tank? Don't want to finalize positioning and then need to go back in for that.

I don’t think there is. Not sure it would even fit.

Yeh, that was also one of my concerns. It was tight without it. Speaking of which, I riveted the panel under the tank, but am wondering if I should go back and remove them? It fits, but I'm wondering if it's an abrasion contact risk over time?

    Andy,

My pal Dave put foam insulating tape under his fuel tank to keep things from rattling.
The car is a second generation 33 Hot Rod.
He got the tape from Home Depot.

To confirm, there IS a piece that goes under the fuel tank on the Gen2 Kit if you ordered the Sound/Insulation kit.

Not sure if you're all aware but FFR has instruction for some of this stuff not found in the manual.

The first link below shows the location for all the various pieces in the heat shield / insulation kit. The pics show the Gen1 frame but positioning is basically the same

Other useful instructions from FFR (scroll down to 33 Hot Rod & 35 Hot Rod Truck section) --> https://www.factoryfiveparts.com/instructions/

On the Gen 1 33 there is no insulation under the tank. To get the tank to fit in I had to use a jack to push up the top frame tube, otherwise the tank wouldn’t slide in.

What I found confusing about that section in the supplemental manual was that although the picture shows that piece laying where the tank would go, the written instructions calls it the Waterfall piece, and refers to cleaning the back of the waterfall fiberglass in the prep section.

Sounds like it will fit under the tank (sometimes), but I'm still unclear as to whether that's the actual intended location for the best sound dampening, or if that piece is supposed to go on the backside of the fiberglass waterfall.

    Thoughts?

When I did mine I saw the same thing so what I did was unbox everything, find where it belonged on the car, labeled it (wrote with sharpie on the back), and at that point I found that I had the extra piece for under the tank (I had everything else for everywhere else).
