Angry Blueprint Engines 2022 Price Increase !!

If you've been planning on ordering an engine/tranny package from Blueprint Engines, be sure to check their new price list on line. The package I was looking at is now nearly $3000.00 more than it was yesterday. Looks like prices have gone up about 12-15% across all of their offerings.

When I ordered my new engine in October, they said there was going to be a substantial price increase at the first of the year, and if I wanted to lock in my price then, put down a $2000.00 deposit for an April delivery.

I heard that tire were going to be in short supply and a large increase in price, so I bought mine 2 weeks ago. Inflation everywhere, hopefully it gets under control in 2022. Fingers crossed.

Doing quick math...Looks like 15% across the board! Wish I'd known. I did find the same engine with controller package at the old price on Summit. Might have to snag it up even though I won't be ready for an engine for at least 12 more likely 16 months.

And likely not going down. Fuel cost, metals, shipping problems, uncertainty in the world, incredibly low quality workforce...... Etc., etc.,

Sadly this might push this all out of my price range .

Historically, I plan projects meticulously in spreadsheets and stick with the plan. Sadly, the FFR plan keeps going up in price as months go on. Now that I actually put the deposit on the kit, things have gone up in price even more.

I might actually have to cancel my order and just move on.

I totally understand the business decision they made. I'd have likely done the same:
    - Limited supply of engine cases and various components for the build
    - Limited number of employees or employees wanting better salary/benefits
    - Large purchaser of said cases and components will likely get preferential filling of their order before the smaller engine builders
    - Turn out a slightly less quantity of engines, with less employees/overhead, at a faster fill rate than other companies - for a larger profit margin per engine

I only wish I beat them to the punch and ordered mine ahead of the 15% increase...lol

Yes, I too planned a particular budget but knew most all items would increase by a few % by the time I was ready to purchase them...Just didn't expect 15% on the largest cost item.

Not just the engine, the kit and options and everything else has gone up too (understandably so). But the package will not cost me nearly $10k Cdn. more (higher price means higher sales tax as well on the price).

It is what it is, but now I am looking at donor cars, which have also gone up in price.

Zee, sent you a pm. You can build a great car for your intended purpose without buying a bunch of high priced performance parts. You have time to kill before your kit is delivered. Use that time to search for the parts you need and clean them up.

Put the expensive new motor in during phase 2! I bought a $1200 motor from a local drag racer on FB marketplace and it's been great. Get some miles and smiles on it!

We all need to get used to it, manufacture's costs keep increasing on all the components from labor to energy etc....they need a certain margin so the costs get passed down to the consumer....welcome to 2022.

$3,600 price increase for a 427 Stage II HO wow, I'm glad I'm locked in. North of $25K for an engine, incredible.

I’ve been building tractor driveshafts for customers for several years. My steel & material costs have been going up for four+ years. I’ve only increased my prices once in that time. In those four or five years there have been two significant steel price cost increases. I now am making less per unit than I was when I started making these driveshafts and I hate to increase my prices because it I try to price things at what I think I would be willing to pay for an item and at some point people will just bite the bullet and buy a new tractor instead of fixing the old one.

This inflation thing is sucks. I’m sure retailers and builders/manufacturers hate to increase prices because they worry it will drive down sales. I know that’s how I feel.

I feel your pain. It is extremely expensive to source parts from the US but I wouldn't get discouraged. Keep an eye on Kijiji (there are several 302's on there right now), plus transmissions, differentials, etc. Sourcing parts in Canada is a bit of an Easter egg hunt but can also be part of the enjoyment of the build process. Right now (over the winter) is a great time to be collecting parts and prices tend to be lower. I'd also plan on a carb vs EFI to save some money. These cars run fine here on a carburetor. Find yourself a 600-650 Holley double pumper with a manual choke and you will be fine. Feel free to PM me if I can be of help. Scott
