    Roadster LS376/530hp with Tremec TKX

    I pulled the trigger and finally ordered my future Roadster. I can't thank everyone enough for all of their detailed posts and build threads!

    I'd like some input regarding a couple decisions:
    Purchasing the complete kit with:
    - LS motor mounts
    - PS
    - Blueprint LS376 with TKX
    - 17" Halibrands with tires
    - Planning on drop trunk

    I'm questioning whether or not I should order the 3-link or the IRS. I don't plan on tracking the car and want to know if it's worth the extra cash to go with the IRS. Additionally wondering if there are any unforeseen/hidden costs or headaches that come with that decision to upgrade to the IRS.
    I'm also considering the upgrade to polished stainless side pipes. I'm aware of the Gas N Pipes but price is pretty hefty for a small reduction in noise. I read on some posts that the weld and finish isn't great on the FFR pipes but these were posts from 3-4 years ago. I'm assuming FFR continued to improve upon their product and wondering how folks are feeling about their latest pipes being delivered over the past year or so.     I'm running the 3-Link and am happy with the simplicity of it.
    The drop trunk is something that I regret not doing so plan to take that option.
    Regarding the pipes, the stainless look pretty darn good but are also pretty darn loud.

    I have a 3 link as well and it seems to work well, however I've never experienced the ride quality with an IRS. I think most who have experienced both lean towards the IRS.
    Upgrading from a 3 link to IRS is not very easy as the frame is configured differently for the 2. If you have fabrication and welding skills, I guess nothing would be impossible.
    I have the FF polished SS side pipes. No issues from a weld standpoint thus far, but the DS pipe does have a bit of vibration/tinniness to it at certain RPMs. I wear ear plugs when I drive so it's a minor concern. I've watched all the comparison videos on GasN pipes vs stock and it does reduce dBs slightly, but also the quality of the sound is a bit more mellow.
    FYI I received my kit in Jan 2019.

    Ditch the 3 link, and go with the IRS. Not a lot of price difference in the scheme of things. Better ride and handling too

    I have ridden in a 3 link FFR Cobra and have IRS on my build. Hands down the IRS is a much better ride would highly recommend the upgrade. I believe it will also help with a better resale value down the road for you, there is a reason why Superformance and Backdraft all use IRS rear ends in there build. The FFR side pipes packing will blow out over time and continue to get louder, spend the money and go with Gas 'n they are much better quality and will definitely outlast the FFR side pipes.

    I had 3-link and it was fine by me. While IRS is likely a smoother ride, these cars are just not “smooth” in any way other than lines. Also I recall reading somewhere that your decision may be dependent on what you plan to do more, casual driving or racing.

    Definitely for drop the pipes and go with Gas-N’s, nicer look and much better sound (lower and more a grumble than bark).

    Thanks for confirming my plans for the drop trunk...sounds like money and time well spent.

    I've decided to go with the IRS. Upgrade cost is minimal as many have said. You made the strongest argument - "there is a reason that Superformance and Backdraft all use IRS". I really appreciate your taking the time to respond.
