Hello from Denver, CO - Kit arrives in 8 days (but who's counting?!)

    Hello Factory Five Family...

So about 14 years ago I stumbled across Factory Five and was immediately spellbound. I requested the promotional packet with the DVD. I remember sitting down and watching the DVD with my son, Joseph, who was 5 or 6 at the time.

"THAT'S IT... I'm going to build one of those with you, son."

As I've seen a lot in site... there are a lot of us who've had this dream for a long time, but never pulled the trigger.

I've done a lot of goal setting in my life and this is one of those things that just never "happened" and I felt time slipping by as my son was going to head off to college.

    Then COVID...

Joseph was due to head out to Santa Barbara to study film and acting at SBCC. For anyone with kids in this stage of life, you know how difficult these decisions have been.

One night mid-August, Joseph comes up from his room and suggests to my wife and me... "What if, instead of going out to California and paying for school and housing... what if we build the Cobra instead?"

HOLY COW... there's still a chance.

So, the next day we called Factory Five and placed the order for our MK4 complete kit. I had no idea how long it would take to arrive. I thought it was like ordering groceries on Amazon Fresh... can't they deliver it between 9-11 tomorrow?! LOL... I had a lot to learn about patience (which I think will serve us well in this build).

So, for the past couple of months we have been preparing our garage, ordering tools, taking delivery on our Blueprint 302 engine and transmission, and mostly devouring the forum here.

I got a call from Todd at Stewart and he said we can expect the kit on the 22-23 this month.

To say we are excited is an understatement beyond comprehension!

I figured it's time to officially join this site, the forum and start contributing.

We plan to document the build with a build thread and I'd love anyone's feedback on the best way to document so we can help others in the future.

Lastly, thanks to everyone who've gone ahead of us and documented their journey... it's invaluable and inspiring.

Thanks for the welcome and see you soon.

    It's a good life!

Welcome to the madness, Joe! It's great to have another local builder in the area. Enjoy the build and just let me know if you need a hand with anything.

Picture came through just fine, Joe. Congratulations on the roadster decision and arrival. I did this build with my son as well and it’s been a fun learning experience. I’m looking forward to your journey.

BTW, when you get this done, you won’t believe how fun it is to drive your roadster in the Colorado canyons!

Build thread - Mk4, Coyote, IRS, Wilwood brakes, old-style soft top and accessories.

The distance between "finished" and finished is literally infinite.
