Talking Garages & Coffee...Lets see um!

    Hi everyone!

I'm getting ready for my build and I wanted to see how you guys are setup! I'm just as excited to build the garage space as I am the actual build lol . Since the pandemic started, I haven't been to a car show or meet up, since last year and I need a motivation boost!

Here are some of my top ideas:

Love #1! How cool is that? But no, I'm working in a suburban 2-car garage that my wife still parks in Doesn't quite look like that LOL. Maybe next time, when we move?!

Hangar at a local municipal airport about an hour west of Chicago..... lots of corporate aircraft and warbirds swarming about, then there are a few of us car-guys who've bought condo hangars after outgrowing our garages.

Here are some pics of mine.....

Your first one looks like a peloton commercial.

I like all of them, mine is an old barn converted to a garage and vacation resort for mice.

Those "Garagemahalls" are fun to look at but mine is more about getting some work done:

I have a couple of lawn chairs in the corner that work fine for when it's time to open up a few cold ones

Nice garage spaces! I feel like a schlep. I had to keep my Acura Integra for 20 years and 318,000 miles to fund my build. Of course, I was single and in my early 30's at the time.

I'm jealous. But I realize it's all relative. Mine is a residential garage, a small one at that. I didn't build my Cobra but I roll out my QuickJacks and do what I can in there (and on the driveway, which the neighbors love )

Just finished our new shop. Ready to move the cabinets in and unpack the tools. Plenty of room to maintain the snake and contemplate the next build. Cheers. A8856DB08-41CA-43B9-89F4-A48CFA2C9EFC.jpg

I have just about completed building my shop, a 1400 sq ft enclosed pole barn at our new home. This will help me get back to my build!

I built 13 FFR kits in this enclosed pole barn. I have since moved and I am building a new car workshop. Details in the near future.

All cleaned out and ready to start my build.

    Delivery day.

    Build process setup.

    The stable is full.

I used two bays of my garage and found it to be enough room. More is always better, but this was adequate. I raised my body buck several feet into the air so that I could store the upcoming parts underneath of it. The majority of the boxes were stored in a spare bedroom until I could transfer the appropriate parts under the body buck. I have two counter tops. I did the entire build on jack stands. A lift sure would have made it easier, but the jack stands were ok.

One of the biggest problems I have is what I call a tool explosion. I would be working on something and then realize that I had tools all over the place. I am horrible at setting down a ratchet and then not being able to find it. I HATE spending time looking for tools. Usually, at the end of a wrenching session, I would take the time to put all of my tools away in their proper place to start fresh the next day.

You don't need a particularly large space, however I was lucky that I could store my body next to my wife's car in our 2-car garage. Organization and not letting tools and parts pile up too much was very important. I tend to put most of my tools away at the end of each session.

I used this 1-car garage space

    To build this

@shark92651 that's purdy! what color is that?

@papa I'm VERY jealous - that's a nice working space. Not crazy big, but really nice setup. What I wouldn't give for high ceiling! I can't even get a basic 4 post lift in mine.

Yup, it's 60% of the weight and nearly 3' shorter! Yet it has about 85% of the HP. Booyah!

Unfortunately, no the ceiling is too low. The garage is insulated with air conditioning and was built with less than 8' ceilings. I was able to store the body under it, but not vehicle.

Mine will get built in my race shop. We also have a nice lounge and a beer fridge! Last pic is the inspiration for my Type 65 Coupe-R build, but I’ll paint mine in the yellow and black that adorns my track toy. Build will be no nonsense and built for ease of maintenance and strictly as a race/track car.
