New Engine Build - 302 | Intake Manifold Clearance Issues
Will I run into any clearance issues with the Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake Manifold (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-7121/make/ford)? From what I understand a dual plane manifold is better for street applications.
Planning on running a HOLLEY SNIPER STEALTH 4150:

Side note - Any recommendations on Rockers?
Based on the forum advice... I'm going with AFR 165cc SBF Renegade 20 Degree Street Heads (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/afr-1399)

I have a dual plane manifold with a Sniper EFI on it. There is a 1/2 inch open spacer under the Sniper and a 3/8 inch air cleaner spacer on top. My COBRA oval air cleaner has about 1/2 inch clearance under the rear engine bay cowl.
Here is a link to a YouTube video I found during my research on installing the Sniper. I found the whole video informative but the section on dual plane manifolds starting at the 5:10 mark was very helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2u7d8kajVI
Because of this I notched my intake divider a 1/2 inch in addition to running the 1/2 inch open spacer.

Norm,
Would the RPM Air Gap, Dual Plane Intake Manifold solve the for need to insert a spacer?

Thanks

It is the dual plane that causes the issues for the Sniper not the height of the manifold. Watch the YouTube video, especially the section on dual plane manifolds starting at 5:10. They explain it clearly. I used an open spacer and removed some of the centre separator of the dual plane manifold to solve that issue. The air cleaner spacer improves airflow because the shape of the oval COBRA air cleaner restricts airflow into the carb or Sniper especially with the thinner filter element.

One of the vendors here, Mike Forte', is extremely helpful with engine builds and has all the higher-end proven parts you'll need as well as a number of custom parts specific to our cars. If it were me (and it has been) giving Mike a call will make things go smoother, and he's saved me a good bit of $$$$$.
FFR MKIV ordered 12 July 2019. IRS, Wilwood Brakes, 18" Wheels w/MT tires, power steering, EFI, Heat. 347 Dart w/TKO-600 by Mike Forte, Holley FI, MSD coil and CD box. All new, no donor build.

I believe the air gap version is taller than the non air gap.

Correct. With the Air Gap you run out of room for an air filter.

Maybe I should have said, the Sniper doesn’t operate well on a dual plane manifold. You can make it work properly by removing some of the centre divider of the manifold or running a 1 inch thick open spacer. There is not enough clearance for that thick of spacer so, I ran a 1/2 inch open spacer and removed a 1/2 inch of the divider. This allowed me to run a 3/8 spacer on top of the Sniper for better airflow in from the air cleaner and give the air cleaner just enough clearance at the rear engine bay opening.
A single plane manifold would be better if you are sure that you are not ever going to need the extra performance that a dual plane gives a carb.
