Darn, I thought it had a Chevy in it.
That's almost as much as I'm asking for my Mom's house.

Sorry, that car is a bit over the top but I'm sure there will be buyers willing to pay the price.
How many toys could you have for the price of that car would be many?

LOL. Well if they can get it all the power to them. Funny how they had to add the "990", probably will also add an admin fee for the paperwork....

I mean, more power to them if they find someone to pay that. But for that price, you’re passing on some pretty exotic rides to buy a mustang.

I see where it says "NOT THE MANUF.SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE" The MSRP it says is $80k less. Still a lot of money.

Not an uncommon practice for low-volume "collectable" cars. Back in the day when the Corvette ZR1 came out, it was the same way. I think Chevrolet provided only one or two to each qualified dealership and they were getting ridiculous money for them.

10 years ago people were only dumb enough to pay a $20K dealer gouge for a Shelby. Is it actually possible for people to have a negative IQ?

It's a souped up $27k car. Yes it has awesome performance. But when you sit in one, they scream $27k.

It says "California Tag - Protecting the consumer". I guess price gouging isn't part of the protection. Maybe they provide the grease.

Think they will charge extra for some floor matts? When I bought my last Shelby 500 they wanted another $110 for mats.

I got up and walked out on a dealer for the paint/fabric/undercoating protection BS. They pulled that crap after we agreed on a price for a car sitting on their lot. They said it was "already on the car" and couldn't deduct it. (Bye bye)

There are people out there paying it unfortunately. When a dealer only has 1 of 250, they will ask as much as they want. They may consider negotiating depending on how long the car sits in the showroom.

Consider the cost of a Revology or Classic Recreations Mustang.

Classic Recreations - $185K and up
    Revology - $200K and up

This is why I am building my 70 Boss 302 tribute restomod!

    Great googly moogly!!

I guess it's worth what people are willing to pay for it. I don't see it frankly, and for what you else you can get for that money, it should sit unsold...

I hope you can follow up and let us know if it sells. You are right -- obscene!!

Sadly - I'm sure they will!

When I bought my Raptor in 2017, they had $50k markup on them... sold 15 of them!

Dont forget they want it around for eye candy for the show room. It needs to be there long enough for people to tell others to bring them in to see it! You might say the 80K is advertizing they would loose if it sold quickly!?

I think Just Puttering is right. I'm sure that $80K mark-up is designed, at least in part, to ensure that it sits on the floor for a while before they eventually accept a lower offer on it. I can't fathom who would pay $185K for a new Mustang, regardless of how rare it is (not talking about rare classic cars, of course). For that money you could buy an Aston Martin Vantage:

    https://www.losgatosluxcars.com/new/...b53ddcedb4.htm

Don't get me wrong, I've been a Mustang lover since I was a kid. The first new car I bought when I graduated from college was a '92 LX 5.0. (225 HP seemed massive back then ) but if I had $185K burning a hole in my pocket I'd take the Aston Martin any day of the week.

It is CA, and there is probably someone who will, just because they can! You do get more looks in the roadster than anyone in a Mustang!

They'll probably get in a bidding war and push it up another $50k.
I lived in Pasadena for 10 years. I have to tell people I know that are moving out of CA, that you put offers in UNDER asking price on houses and cars, not over like you do in CA.

Just about anyone can afford a new Mustang. They start in the $26K range. Which is what makes a car that is a souped up version going for over $100k more than outgagous.

I daily drove a 66 fastback for 9+ years. Loved that car. But you certainly couldn't say it was a "good" car. They were actually flimsy pieces of junk quality-wise.
