    SENNA Movie

    Hi All,

I went to the Los Angeles Premiere of "SENNA" this weekend. It is a must see for everyone!

I had previously watched a ripped copy of the movie from a torrent site and was not impressed. I did want to go to the theater since the director was to be there for an Q&A session after the film. Needless to say, what I watched was a completely different film and boy was it impressive!

The film starts the story of Ayrton Senna beginning with his days as a go-kart racer in international competition and does a nice job transitioning right into formula 1.We get the story of his success beginning in Monte Carlo at Toleman Racing and then it swaps focuses primarily on his rivalry with Frenchman Alain Prost. Though it would have been nice to see more about his dueling with Mansel and Piquet, and we know the footage is there, it would have made the movie almost 7 hours long (and the director mentioned that it was cut into this form, but it was just too expansive, and not as riveting as the 80 minute version we watched.)

long and short is a it's a great movie you can take anyone to see and they will enjoy it, granted it ends sadly, but the footage we see of the world celebrating Senna's life after death is what magically transforms it into an inspirational piece, not just a tear jerker.

Please feel free to ask questions as the Director Asif Kapadia answered many, and I'm sure I can translate them along.

See the movie's facebook page for details on screenings in your local area. search SennaMovie.
