You may want to consider this item too.
I came across this and think i may use this for my build.
don't get me wrong, I love Russ Thompson's stuff (i have his trunk insert) but i think I'm doing a quick release steering wheel. Russ will be the first person to tell you, even if you can make it work it just doesn't look right with the quick release hub.

Anyway, I came across this item and it really looks like a solid item. Just a thought for you.
