    Lightbulb Headlight retainer fix...

If you haven't seen the little metal retainers that come with the FFR headlight set you won't believe how weak they are. They just are not up to the task. I have seen another fix that required bending up some new retainers and even a mention of silicone to hold them steady. What ever works for you. I had had enough of the bendy little rascals so it was time to take them out. A little scrap aluminum and a few minutes on a bandsaw and its problem gone. The photos should be enough to get you going on your own fix.

I stiffened my headlight mounting brackets by simply cutting out pieces of heavier aluminum sheet (the same gauge as used for the cockpit panels), and drilling them in the same relative location. This provided a stiffening backup for each retaining clip, and I have had no problems at all since.

I "fixed" mine twice before I did the mod. Those kit clips wouldn't even make good paper clips.
