BMW E46 M3 ABS System
Over in David's Build Thread, the topic of ABS systems came up and I thought I'd post what I know about a system that can be used standalone from the BMW world - The Teves/ATE Mk60 out of certain E46 series BMWs.
Now, I haven't thought about this for a while, but wanted to get all the links and resources out there at the bottom if anyone was gung-ho about investigating this further. My personal interest in this? After I sold my Spec Racer years back, I bought an E30 M3 which has become a track car, and I have all the parts for this swap sitting in a box waiting for me to get the time to install.
The only trick I can think of at this point? How appropriate are the stock maps for a car like a FFR? A lot of E30s are fairly neutral in terms of weight bias, and in the 2000 - 2500lb range, so the programming for the E30 might not be too off. Andrew/Demlotcrew from one of the threads below found someone who can re-program the units, so it can be done. Also, if you were interested in traction control, you'd need to link up the CAN feed from the ABS to a standalone to read the four wheel speeds, and the traction control algorithm would be within the ECU.

Same thread from multiple forums, Andrew (Demlotcrew) is selling a kit that makes it easy. I believe the last two require logins to view, I can try to PDF these threads, I think the S14Power one is pretty good, but I think you need to contact the admin to register there.

More generic CANBUS thread that might be appropriate trying to link the unit into a standalone for traction control, etc.

Any questions, ask away!
