    IRS Driveshaft Angle and Centerline

I just installed the driveshaft in my MK4 with IRS and am wrestling with the driveline angles. I've read several other threads about adjusting angles, and the prevailing wisdom is to shim up the transmission quite a bit. I'm okay with that, and will probably order Forte's spacer setup. That said, I do have a question. I never noticed before, but the input pinion shaft on the IRS differential is not centered, and biased a good inch or more towards to right (passenger side). It just seems very odd to me. Clearly it is designed this way. I'm just curious as to why, and does it represent any concerns? Seem to me you end up with an unwanted angle from left to right.

Upon further fiddling, I guess the entire drivetrain is a bit biased to the right, engine and all. Once I added a 3/4" spacer under the tranny, there doesn't seem to be much left to right angle problem.
