    Help Identifying A Few Items

Hello all...I hope people aren't going to get annoyed of my questions while I'm learning/figuring this car out. I've been trying to get it prepped so that I can get it retuned but as I fix one problem, I find other problems.

With Holley's technical help yesterday, I was finally able to sync my laptop and Holley ecu (we had to try a lot of different/older versions of their software). This unfortunately led to finding that the ecu wasn't reading the fuel pressure (mechanical gauge in the engine bay was properly set and working, ecu was saying "low Err") along with the oil pressure wasn't reading properly in the ecu. It was showing up as 7-9psi while my mechanical cockpit gauge was reading 60psi on cold start idle. The Holley tech said that these two issues could be related regarding wiring.

So I'm in need of a little guidance on finding/identifying these two sensors. I don't even know if they are necessarily bad either as it could be wiring since I'm finding wiring issues. Once I knock these out, I can finally get the car properly tuned.

I'm wondering if this is the fuel pressure sensor? It is on the passenger side near the firewall and has a line running from it to the top of the block sitting between the ITB's. There is no labeling on it, so I could be completely wrong.

For the oil pressure sensor, what I'm a little concerned on is that the cockpit gauge seems to read it fine, but the engine ecu isn't...not sure what could be causing that.

Also, while I identified the green ground wire that was loose (when touching it against the engine block the "cooling fan relay" under the dash was clicking), I'm having a hard time figuring out what this black wire with a grey line is. Trying to trace it back and it appears to run into a line that goes into the rear firewall directly behind the engine. That could be the oil pressure issue for the ecu by reading the below diagram if that wire is considered "grey"...and if so where do I properly hook this wire up to?

I keep finding more and more exposed wires not connected to anything which is frustrating. I know there are probably plenty of wires not used, but I would expect those to be taped up, not where the rubber shielding is stripped and wire is exposed.

After I figure out the oil pressure and fuel pressure sensors for the ECU, I can then hopefully tackle down why the headlamps aren't working and then the left turn signal (all turn signals work when the emergency lights are turned on however).

I'm very grateful for all the help I've already had, and continue to get.

I will preface that I'm going to be bringing my car to a speed shop in the upcoming weeks to help get things sorted, but I'm trying to help narrow down the things that I can in the meantime.

The first item in your picture is the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. It measures the pressure (normally less than ambient barometric pressure unless the throttle is wide open). The hose is connected to a port on the common intake manifold.

As to unlabeled wires -- start with using a voltmeter to see if they happen to be as 12V supply or Ground (0 volts). I would not be surprised if a green wire with a ring terminal wasn't a temperature or pressure sensor input that is designed for a single-terminal sensor that provides a variable resistance to ground. If so, the reason for your bad fuel or oil pressure might be a missing sensor that therefore isn't connected.

    Good luck on the hunt!
