I'm getting ready for my build and I wanted to see how you guys are setup! I'm just as excited to build the garage space as I am the actual build lol . Since the pandemic started, I haven't been to a car show or meet up, since last year and I need a motivation boost!
Love #1! How cool is that? But no, I'm working in a suburban 2-car garage that my wife still parks in Doesn't quite look like that LOL. Maybe next time, when we move?!

Hangar at a local municipal airport about an hour west of Chicago..... lots of corporate aircraft and warbirds swarming about, then there are a few of us car-guys who've bought condo hangars after outgrowing our garages.

I like all of them, mine is an old barn converted to a garage and vacation resort for mice.

Nice garage spaces! I feel like a schlep. I had to keep my Acura Integra for 20 years and 318,000 miles to fund my build. Of course, I was single and in my early 30's at the time.

I'm jealous. But I realize it's all relative. Mine is a residential garage, a small one at that. I didn't build my Cobra but I roll out my QuickJacks and do what I can in there (and on the driveway, which the neighbors love )
Just finished our new shop. Ready to move the cabinets in and unpack the tools. Plenty of room to maintain the snake and contemplate the next build. Cheers. A8856DB08-41CA-43B9-89F4-A48CFA2C9EFC.jpg
Pure utility & storage, can't see hanging out in one.

I used two bays of my garage and found it to be enough room. More is always better, but this was adequate. I raised my body buck several feet into the air so that I could store the upcoming parts underneath of it. The majority of the boxes were stored in a spare bedroom until I could transfer the appropriate parts under the body buck. I have two counter tops. I did the entire build on jack stands. A lift sure would have made it easier, but the jack stands were ok.
One of the biggest problems I have is what I call a tool explosion. I would be working on something and then realize that I had tools all over the place. I am horrible at setting down a ratchet and then not being able to find it. I HATE spending time looking for tools. Usually, at the end of a wrenching session, I would take the time to put all of my tools away in their proper place to start fresh the next day.

You don't need a particularly large space, however I was lucky that I could store my body next to my wife's car in our 2-car garage. Organization and not letting tools and parts pile up too much was very important. I tend to put most of my tools away at the end of each session.
Detached shop:
- 1200 square feet
- Heated
- 12' ceiling in front portion (27'x30') with 16'x10' door (front load)
- 14' ceiling in rear portion (13'x30') with 10'x10' door (side load)
- Air plumbed throughout
- Lift
- High-bay lighting

@papa I'm VERY jealous - that's a nice working space. Not crazy big, but really nice setup. What I wouldn't give for high ceiling! I can't even get a basic 4 post lift in mine.

Built a $250,000 garage so I could build a $55,000 car.

Can you park under the lift? How tall are your ceilings?
Unfortunately, no the ceiling is too low. The garage is insulated with air conditioning and was built with less than 8' ceilings. I was able to store the body under it, but not vehicle.
Mine will get built in my race shop. We also have a nice lounge and a beer fridge! Last pic is the inspiration for my Type 65 Coupe-R build, but I’ll paint mine in the yellow and black that adorns my track toy. Build will be no nonsense and built for ease of maintenance and strictly as a race/track car.
