    E-brake build issue

has anyone else encountered an issue screwing the upper handle to the lower? I can only get the upper to screw in only about 3 threads, about 1/8" on. I have tried wd-40 and other lubricant, but it just stops as if it bottoming out... I don't want to strip the threads forcing it. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, I had the same problem, took the wire brush wheel on the bench grinder to it; polished it up, cleaned the threads, oiled the threads with regular motor oil then I was able to screw it all the way down. Previously I had the E-Brake parts powder coated so some of my problem was powder coating on the threads, worked ok after polishing threads.

I just finished the installation with a brake assembly I just received last week and it all went on fine.

Did you by chance install both nylon white bushings? I went back and looked at my photos and the manual and I used only the 1 inch bushing.

I also extended the Rachet to Handle Mount bracket to allow running the cables above the crossmember.

The first photo shows the difference between the original and my bracket.

I utilized the Lokar cables which came with this nice adjustable transition piece

I am using FFR Wilwood brakes, the parking brake is fully engaged at 3 clicks with plenty of room for adjustment as the cable stretches.

Thanks for the wire brush suggestion. That worked like a charm! This site community is the best!
