Day 1 taking our adopted baby home. Purchased from original owner builder, an Air Force fabricator of parts for air planes. Informal academic training with engineering knowledge. There's always an engineer or engineering mind engaged building an FFR car. Forgive me for not building my FFR. The Roadster has been a fantasy since 10th grade 1964-65 when I saw a black and white picture of a Cobra in a hot rod magazine. The article described the Cobra beating Sting Rays and XKEs. Fast Forward summer Indian River, MI 2017. A new acquaintance opened his garage door and I immediately knew I was looking at the back of a Shelby Cobra Roadster. Next winter I was reading about Carol Shelby and Cobra history when I noticed the word "replica". I knew the meaning but had no knowledge of a replica Cobra. Last I knew a Cobra was $100s of thousands or millions to own. I could not believe I stumbled from fantasy to reality... I was going to drive a Cobra of my own. Research proved FFR was the best chasis and most sought after. Oct 2018 we adopted a beautifully built FFR Roadster Mk4 from Tom Tegan.

A quick snap shot with my iPhone 11 on automatic looking into the sunset on Thanksgiving day. As I left my daughter’s home after Thanksgiving dinner I took this shot of my Type 65 Coupe. I think it captures the stunningly clean lines of the original design. It’s a heavily modified Gen 2 car equipped with 2015 Coyote, TKO600 and the Thunderbird IRS. The vision for this build is a clean, modern, road trip capable GT car with a nod or two to some of the lesser known aspects of the original. The modifications include under car exhaust, power windows, power steering, custom dash, dropped cabin and trunk floors and cabin partition. I’m seriously enjoying the gel coat shakedown miles before paint and body next year.
