Deep, mellow exhaust note on MK5?

I love the deep, mellow exhaust note that's more associated with muscle cars rather than Cobras. Is there a good way to achieve that ona MK5? I know on an MK4 you could do an under body exhaust with mufflers, but I think there's no longer room for that on the new frame. What's the best way to get that effect on a MK5?

Take the MK5 badge and put it on a 69 Corvette. OK, all kidding aside, there is about 8' of 3" exhaust pipe and large dual mufflers missing from the equation. I don't think you can duplicate that sound with a direct from header to 4' narrow muffler side pipes. Maybe others have more insight but I can tell just looking at my coupe it is going to be louder and higher pitched than my 69 Camaro. It is what it is.

Have you listened to the new MK5 pipes yet??

I'm looking forward to seeing how this ends up my wife says my mk 4 is to loud, need to tone it down a bit.
Me I just take the hearing aids out no problem.

You can weld in mufflers. Cats help too.

I have a MKV with a Gen3 coyote. I installed car chemistry inserts in the Headers. They are available from Summit racing, easy to install, And they work well. They take the bark out of the exhaust. I have used them on Many cars. Here is an example.

I would be interested in seeing some pictures as how they installed I'm kinda a visual person my mk4 with408 stroker is loud

I didn't take any photos. But.... I removed the side pipe connection at the header, and pushed them into the ball connector and welded them in . Simple.

Yes, change the tone, totally removed the bark, and makes I quieter

Mellow and Cobra aren't two words you normally see together.

Look at 28 or 30 inch cobrapak mufflers from Classic Chambered Exhaust.

I also wanted a Roadster with a bit more of a quieter mellow note. My wife is very sensitive to loud noises and if I had hopes of her riding with me, I needed to do something different. I have rear IRS, which makes rear mounted exhaust (muffler) challenging. I opted to build mine into the nose of the car, where there is a surprising amount of space. The resulting sound is comfortable, deep and mellow-- in part because of the x-pipe for sure. I've got about 12k miles on it and love every part of it!
