OK the car is going to paint a week from Friday and the last project before it goes is figuring out to get the headers to clear the body. They hit the bottom of the opening on both sides and I can't get the gap between the nose and the pontoons right until I can figure out how to get clearance. There isn't much fiberglass there and I'm afraid to just start grinding. Help!
I ended up timming it down there a great deal. And what little is left cracked some time in the first two years.
It's going to have to fit and I don't think the headers bend well. You might shape some aluminum to the shape of the fiberglass left at the bottom when you're done and neatly rivet it in.

Thanks Brian. I think I might have to reinforce the top of the pod too, it looks like I'll have to remove enough to make it pretty thin. Good excuse to also buy Russ' pod covers too.:D
You could try shimming the engine mounts a bit. I had to do this to gain needed clearance on my psgr side.
Hmmm, probably should have thought of that one. How much did you have to shim it? Did you use anything special?
In my case, I only needed the psgr side up an inch or so. To get that amount on the moment end of the headers, I used less than 1/4" at the engine mount. I used two large door style shims. At some point, I will probobaly go back and fab a full size shim in stainless that matches the footprint of the mount. For now, i'm happy with it. Your results at the header ends will probably vary since both sides need to go up in your case.
If theyre both hitting evenly your going to have to trim, not that big a deal. Take a deep breath and jump in..............HTH Steven

I had the same problem and I resolved it by taking the side pipes to muffler shop and had bends put in header pipe to give more clearance then had them ceramic coated
