how much to mount on the engine prior to install?

I received pretty much everything I need engine-wise now, and just installed the KRC power steering pump...

I'm adding the A/C compressor as well to verify the installation points, but can I keep it installed? or do I need to remove it for the roadster install?

I can't find the thread for 'pre-work' on installing the Coyote from various folks, things like "unattach the steering column, etc...

From my experience:

- alternator and power steering are OK to leave installed.
- no idea about AC; didn't install it on my build
- if you haven't already, you'll need to remove the oil cooler that's attached at the oil filter location and replace the oil filter adapter with the shorter one.
- you'll need to disconnect the steering shaft at the rack and swing it out of the way.
- if you have brake/clutch reservoirs mounted on the 3/4" tube by the DS footbox, you'll need to swing those out of the way.
- you will want to remove the 1/2" NPT bung on the PS side of the Moroso oil pan or it may (will) get hung up on the engine mounting frame tab.
- I had several helpers to guide the engine/trans into place so I installed the transmission a-frame beforehand. Someone will need to guide the trans into place but it's pretty easy.
- I left the shifter installed on the trans. In retrospect, things would have been considerably easier if I'd removed the shifter and re-installed it later. It's just 6 bolts and some RTV.

Other random thoughts:
- test fit your headers beforehand to make sure the bolts all line up.
- Once the engine is in far enough, install the DS header before lowering the engine all the way. It'll still be a PITA to get to all the bolts but definitely easier than if you wait until the engine is resting on its mounts. (the PS side is easy even after the engine is in).

my engine was prepped by Forte before shipping so a lot has been prepped like the oil filter adapter nipple, and trans trimming, etc.

steering shaft makes total sense given how wide the Coyote is!
my brake reservoirs are on the firewall, I know I'll most likely hate myself for this going forward, but it was where I had space given the darn whitby brake booster
I can't believe that little NPT bung will get hung up! that's insanely small! but I know you (and others) swear by removing it
the shifter is a good idea a few inches shaved here or there can help!

I have my headers ready - need to test all my stage8 bolts (I removed the studs) which 'should' add a little more room

at first blush the compressor looks like it tucks underneath the passenger head nicely - but will wait for a few others to chime in :)

3 simple bolts for the compressor, but dang that belt is TIIIIGHT in there! hopefully it can stay put ;)

Also, take the starter off before installing. It gets in the way of the passenger motor mount and is simple to install once motor is in.

I think JohnK hit the nail on the head. If you go slowly, you'll be able to tell if you need to pop something off at the last minute. I'd leave as much on as you can. If you are using full length (i.e. 4-into-4 headers, they can't go on until you get past the upper frame rail, but if you have shorty headers, you can (and should) mount them before.

I do have the 4-1 FFR headers, and testing fitting them on the stand LOL what a chore!
