Getting ready to call FFR soon and place an order. Still debating 347 FSB Stroker vs Gen III Coyote. My feet are Size 10.5. I've searched a lot of places and I can't seem to find any pictures of footboxes (with people's feet in them), to show room with a 'standard' build. If I went with the Coyote motor AND wanted to expand the footbox, what would I actually gain, space-wise? Or, is this really not something I should be concerned about if my feet are only 10.5?

I have coyote footbox with gen 2. I custom built my accelerator pedal to match the wilwood brake & clutch and to fit my foot a little better. I've been on the road for 2 weeks and have not had any issues with my size 12. I'm also 6'-4 and with the leather seats mounted on the floor and lifted in the front about 3/4" I find it more comfortable than I would have thought. I really don't see the footbox an issue. FFR provides aluminum panel that kicks out near the clutch about an inch that definitely helps. I do have some interference with standard sneakers so I bought some small profile shoes on amazon that are absolutely perfect.

Thanks for that. Is it fair to say, then, that the Coyote panel that FFR provides should be alright for my 10.5 feet? I'm asking because I've ready other threads where people talk about modifying the panel along the transmission tunnel.

I have size 10-1/2 also, with a Coyote, and my Mk4 footspace was fine. Three comments: Not all shoes are created equal. I found some running/athletic shoes that fit me fine but were still narrower than other shoes I had. Always used those and it helped a lot. Others have gone to actual driving shoes. Don't expect to climb in with your Timberland's and have enough room. (Kidding, but you get my point.) There is some wiggle room with the pedals. The Wilwood pads and be moved side-to-side, depth is adjustable, and there some adjustment possible with how you mount the Coyote DBW (Drive By Wire) accelerator module. So there's some adjustability available. Finally, yes some have done small sheet metal mods at the bottom RH side of the footbox to have a little more room. There's not a lot available, and potentially gets in the way of the already challenging header bolt access on the other side. You'd have to decide if it's worth it. My opinion is with your shoe size the first two points, you'll be fine. It will always be a bit tight. These aren't big cars. But you'll get used to it.
One other point -- just to confirm -- Factory Five supplies the same footbox pieces regardless of the engine you choose. Some years ago they had a different inside piece for mod motors, which was then used briefly for Coyotes. But that's ancient history now.
My feet are just size 9s and I don’t feel like I have enough room, don’t ask me why because I don’t know. But it has me thinking of doing a mod like Straversi did. See his post #22 and #53. The header bolts are bad enough without changing the foot box, so if that makes it worse I won’t be doing it. My thought is I could make the foot box wall removable and access the header bolts from inside the car.

I have 347 stroker, foot size 11.5 and I use racing shoes in the car to fit in the footbox. but it's super convenient, and also makes you look cool.
After getting my shoe laces wrapped around my pedals, I now wear slip-on Sketchers when driving the roadster. :o BTW, I wear a 10-1/2 E. I moved my brake and clutch pads to the left of the pedal as Paul stated. My accelerator pedal is the FFR kit part (non-Coyote) for my car.
Even on the Mark 3.1 the footbox space was tight for my size 11's, bought driving shoes that helped a lot. One other thing I did was to put no carpet or insulation on the inside of the accelerator pedal panel, instead I used 3M VHB double sticky tape to attach this slippery polypropylene next to the accelerator pedal, even the sticky rubber on driving shoes slides across it without catching.
On the engine side of that panel, I used some of the left over aluminum panels and made a heat shield that stands off the regular sheet metal by 1/2". The standoffs are actually 1/4 x 20 RivNuts, popped in the panel from the engine side. Put a layer of thermotech insulation between the panel and the footbox sheetmetal...works great, ,no real heat at the accelerator pedal wall.

Had to build my own kickouts the FFR part did not exist yet. Size 11 boots & driving shoes. I wear the shoes when driving the car. No pedal interference.

Initially I was concerned about having enough room on the clutch side but now that I am go carting I am having trouble on the right side gas pedal. There is a "bump out" in the aluminum that is near the gas pedal (coyote). The top right side of my foot rubs this bump out when I press the pedal (I only wear a size 10). I attached a picture from GTBradley's build for reference. If I move my heel back a couple inches (toward the seat) my shoes do not rub...but it does not feel as natural when pressing the pedal. There is plenty of clearance inside the engine bay where the bump out and pedal is. I'm tempted to hammer it out a little.

I modified my MK IV drivers footbox a little on the right side. It gives the a small amount of additional foot room near the pedal but then a few inches around the calf area. Here are a couple side by sides of not the best quality pictures.

I'll see if there is an Edmonton thread or forum. I have some logistical questions that I need to understand. (Shipping, insurance, registration, inspection, bodywork and paint shops who know fiberglass, etc.)

Question for the forum: Is 2bking's mod still the consensus way to get more footbox space before the build is too far along? Did anyone start making these, or do folks PM 2bking for plans still?

Short answer no. Longer answer while some differences, FF updated the Mk4 footbox several years ago and it has very similar room. So that mod, while excellent at the time, is no longer applicable. Basically the concept was to make the engine compartment wide at the top, but then cut back out to give room in the footbox. All Mk4’s come this way. There are a couple small mods guys do to get a little room here and there. But nothing as major as that.Quote:
