Help! Can't get brake plunger shaft out of master cylinder

Nevermind! :-) I can't use this cylinder as manual built on a vacuum power assist setup. I'll have to replace the plunger assembly with a rebuild kit for power assist version.

I stuck this into the cylinder and it won't come out. I'm putting in a vacuum booster and the current cylinder won't release the shaft.

Can it be removed? Failing that, what's a good replacement master cylinder part number to order? PBR calipers up front and 95 mustang GT rear calipers

The rod will not come out or the plunger will not come out?

If you twist the rod does it spin the plunger?

I should have said rod. I can release the plunger ok. The snap ring works. The rod spins around without turning the plunger.
Both pieces are unused. I just stuck the rod in and realized it was a mistake. I tried pulling it and a bit of prying, but looks like it's in there to stay.

Is it the 1984 Jeep CJ cylinder we use? is there a better option?

Yup. That's the one I've fubar'd. Thanks for posting the specs. My vacuum booster has a 1.5" pushrod projection, so this should fit. - Ted

FWIW, the push rod is removable IF you have a special FORD tool - looks like a split steel tube with a taper on the inner leading end. Slips over the push rod and and compresses the plastic ring that is locking your push rod in place.
Truth be told, they are designed to be a one time installation but . . . A good amount of "Old FORD Guys" probably have this homemade tool . . . for just your reason.
