Attached are two pictures of the pedal box from a 2001 Mustang Cobra installed in a MK IV chassis. The brake pedal hits the cross member as you can see. What is the best procedure to solve this problem? Do I cut the cross member? Thanks for your help.
When it is assembled with the master cylinder the pedal will not swing far enough rearward to come into contact with the chassis tube.

On manual brake cars that tube is the safety that keep the pushrod from backing out of the master cylinder, so if you are not using a booster that locks the pushrod in place then absolutely do not cut it out. Like Jeff said, if you are fully assembled it shouldn't touch the tube, but if it does you can either space out the master cylinder or shorten the pushrod with a bench grinder. Just remember that due to the leverage ratio a small change will have a big affect on pedal height.
