Biography:

I've been dreaming of building an 818 for years. A couple of things stand in the way of achieving this dream. I've been taking classes part time to earn a BS in mechanical engineering since summer of 2015. I work full time and have a 1 year old son. This means I'll have no time to even work on the build until after graduation which I'm anticipating will occur in Spring 2023. Until then, there are two more things standing in the way. No garage and no donor. Well, I drew up some plans and got moving on getting a detached garage. I had an 18x20 garage floor poured and am currently waiting for delivery and install of my 18x20 metal building. Now I just needed a donor. I wanted an 06-07 WRX because I wanted the 2.5L engine and the nicer brakes. I've owned a 1993 Legacy, 2003 WRX, 2005 WRX limited and now I daily a 2015 WRX limited, so I'm not stranger to Subaru! I looked and looked but all the donors I've been finding are very high milage with tons of mods done and would likely need engine work or transmission work to make them reliable. Finally after well over a year of searching, I found my donor. I picked up a 2007 WRX Limited with only 58k miles on it from copart. Yes, you read that right! And only 1 owner with not a single modification done. Maintained at the dealership (it has the oil change sticker on the windshield). I found a cushioned seat cover and road atlases in the car so the precious owner was likely an older adult. It was T-boned in an accident and the passenger side doors were crushed in. Looks like someone tried to partially repair it but decided to abandon the project. Now with a garage coming and the donor in my driveway, I'm ready to start pulling parts off and cleaning them up for the 818. I plan to order my 818C kit from FFR on graduation day. Until then, I'm here researching and preparing for the build.
