Got word earlier this evening that I am a talented individual: I managed to crack both heads on this motor. The machine shop agrees that most people just blow a head gasket when they overheat a Subaru. I managed to crack both heads. The shop was quite impressed.

Time to start looking for a new motor. Sigh.

    Just look at this as an oportunity to build a killer motor. No matter how bad things are they could always be worse.

    Looking at the option of buying two reman'd heads and reusing the short block (after having it inspected). Have several offers of low-mileage used motors for $3000. I'd like to keep the budget in check, but there were thoughts of buying an STi short block and adding reman'd heads, but that would involve a tune and other costs. Just the heads would be relatively cheap...
