I hope you understand where I'm coming from. Based on the write up of your build, I think you do understand my mindset. I really appreciated all the detail you put in. I hope to do the same for my project.

    Best Regards,
    Charles

This financial thing will take about 2 years. During that time, I hope to work on my packaging/design during my spare time off work. I want to build this project based on the processes I am accustomed to at my work. 3D model, design, check, build. I know this wont eliminate ALL surprises and pitfalls, but I tend to rush, cut corners, and break things. So implementing this process would mitigate errors.
Is there any way you could kindly share the dimensions of your model you used for your FEA? Or even share the actual 3D model? I know that you spent a lot of time building that model and measuring. I just dont want to order a kit, measure everything, model and design for a year while my kit sits there untouched. as soon as i have the kit, i know i wont spend time designing because the build bug itch will hit me hard. I am using Autodesk. If you did it in an autodesk native software, that would be great, otherwise, step files would do.

I am beginning my MK4 build "journey". I have never built a kit car before, but I am very confident of my capabilities and have enough help around to make it a success. The way I am going about it is, I that I want to design my entire vehicle in CAD prior to build. This is because of 2 reasons. 1, since it is my first time build, I'm hoping that my 3D design will mitigate some pitfalls of packaging everything I want in the car. IE, packaging my own Air Conditioning Design, packaging the engine bay, cockpit design, predicting weight distribution (moving things to get it to 50/50). The second reason is that I am still currently paying off student debt, and will commence procurement of parts as soon as Im financially healthy.
  4. Hi David,
(Page 1; I had to split up my paragraphs into several messages because I was at 2600 characters)
Let me first apologize for my rambling. The reader’s digest of the word vomit below is: I would like to model an MK3 in 3D prior to building and procuring the kit and parts. Any chance you can share your measured dimensions or even the actual CAD model? I would be willing to pay you for your models if the price is reasonable.
