So, I'm really jealous of these guys who can scuplt, draw and 3D model on CAD systems and editing software. I'm an engineer, but not a design engineer. My brother is really good. We used to draw/sketch cars and airplanes as kids. Well, even though I suck, that hasn't stopped me from trying. I sketched out 3 designs last night. I got my older 2 boys to try some as well. haha
I've already learned that its hard to get a roadster to look good that has fenders. (I'm a huge Model A and deuce roadster fan). I should play around with a mid engine fenderless roadster just for fun.
It's hard for me to come up with original designs. I saved some inspiring designs on the lap top and scroll back and forth amongst them to get line/shape ideas. But, when I get a couple more that are halfway decent, I'll post them up in here for fun.

So, I was going through my Photobucket and found these pics I took with my cell phone. The Utah Cobra Club does a lunch cruise in at Astro Burger as the last hurrah before Winter hits. It's kinda close to work and Burgers are good, but we're all there to see Cobras. Now, some of these are other kits which include the amazing Kirkham Cobras. Enjoy!
License plate says it all. The reflections off the Kirkhams were seriously hot.
I really liked this 'bra! Had a nice track stance and look to it.
Woops, a nice Z snuck in there. :)
That white one again.
Nice line up

Hey there FFR heads,

I've been a fan for a number of years. About 6 years ago a buddy of mine bought a MKIII Cobra kit and he's kinda kept me in the loop and sent pictures and talked engine mods and paint colors over email. He took me for a ride before it was even finished, but it hauled, sounded amazing and was like a gokart. I was mezmerized! I really was trying to figure out how to get a kit for myself but life just wasn't in the right spot. I got on the Utah Cobra Club email list and have been an outsider looking. I've gone to the last 3 Astro Burger get togethers. They had like 11 or so cars show up at the last one last fall. Well, 6 years later and now the new suby donor kit projecct has been anounced and I'm so excited. I bought my 2002 World Rally Blue WRX sedan last April. It had 115k on it and I paid $8500 for it. It has about $4000 in mods, so that was nice. I've fixed a few things and homemade a wood shift knob to add my own touch. I get 28 mpg average and its running about 280hp (factory is 227hp). It's an amazing car. I've wanted one since they came out in 2002 and finally was able to afford one (cash, no credit).

Well, I'm planning on getting a kit, its just a matter of when. I've already briefed the Mrs. on my plan. haha It will be about 2-3 years, so I'll be in the saving, planning and watching mode. Can't wait to find out more about the kit, see and read details and see video of the first prototype the FFR crew builds. Also looking forward to the Design Competition. Can't wait to see what it looks like and what the name ends up to be.

To end this blog, I'll give you a view of the future FFR donor. Seriously thinking of getting a vanity plate that says "FFRDONR".
Sorry, I've only got pics from the Bonneville Salt Flats. haha
This was the day I bought the car with the previous owner sadly handing over the keys. You can see all my boys around the car. I've got 4 boys under 8 years old. I can't wait to get them involved in building a "hot rod". All modified or fast or loud cars are called "hot rods" around here.
