Hi.

My name is Peter and I am a car junkie.

But I'm not a fan of just any type of car. I'm a fan of the elemental, the visceral, the type of car that engages you as a driver. Above all, I think cars are meant to be driven in something other than a straight line, as frequently and as passionately as possible. This is why Factory Five's announcement of a 1800lb WRX-based kit got me fired up something fierce. From the moment I read the Automobile magazine write-up, I knew this was going to be right up my alley. A ten thousand dollar kit car is something I can afford and even if that price doubles to get it finished, I knew I could swing it. The design competition was the icing on the cake - to both design and build my own car would be a dream come true.

While I will not be sharing my designs on this blog, I plan to keep a running log of my thoughts and progress through this design competition and my eventual build. I plan to build this car no matter what and I intend to keep you in the loop as that goes on.

One wrinkle in this whole thing is that I live in a tiny studio apartment in Manhattan and do not have a garage to call my own. But as I will share with you later, I have a plan for that...

baron, one more car junkie here. Can't wait to follow your blogs and what you have up your sleeve to build this kit (rent a storage unit?)

suby - nothing revealed until things get settled more, but it will not be a storage unit. Of course, I could just go out and buy a PowerBall ticket today, that would solve everything...
