Engine Blog: First 302 experience

I've been away from hot rodding for a while so I wanted my first experience with a new project to be a good one. I think I could have gone with the donor 302 from a 92 GT with a reported 60K and would have been fine. After inspecting the engine, the bearings were good and other signs like cylinder ring ridge (none) indicated that it would have worked. However, I finally made the decision to go with a crate engine to be sure. At $2400, the ATK balanced and blue printed long blk wasn't very painful to the budget compared to many I've seen. So I got the first premise of my plan to make sure the guts of the project were solid. I have tried to start this blog before but it doesn't seem to take when I get to wordy so I think I will stop here and go into the details of my buildup in steps. I will get into the choice of components and my ideas to make this little pushrod engine perform to my expectations. I am going with an EFI system so that is the most challenging part for me, at least, from a worry perspective. WEK.
