Rod Tops fitment question

I recently acquired a Rod Tops for my Mk 4 Roadster. The car has the FFR wind wings and Breeze billet side view mirrors which mount to the wind wing brackets. I can attach the forward snaps and fabric of the removable side windows only if I either 1) remove the wings and mirrors or 2) fold the wind wings with attached mirrors inward so they sit behind the windshield inside the cockpit. In this position the mirrors are useless for viewing the blind spots. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, the header (windshield) wooden bow interferes with the wind wings unless the wings are trimmed shorter or lowered in their brackets which attach to the A pillar.
Advice appreciated.
